Rev. Kim M. Strong
Rev. Kim M. Strong became the pastor of the Bowman Charge on June 15th,
2000. He is a native of Duncan, South Carolina, which is located in Spartanburg
County. He and Margaret (Margo) Mason were united in marriage on September
8th, 1979. She has been the school nurse at Gateway Elementary School in
Travelers Rest for the past five years.
Kim and Margo have two sons, Matt age 19 and Jon age 17. Matt is a sophomore
at Greenville Technical College and Jon is a rising Senior at the
Greenville Senior High School and Academy of Academic Excellence.
Rev. Strong is a graduate of James F. Byrnes High School. He graduated
from Wofford College with a degree in Religion in 1978. Rev. Strong graduated
from The Candler School of Theology at Emory University with a Master of
Divinity degree in 1982. Rev. Strong graduated from the United States Air
Force Chaplain School in 1989. Rev. Strong continued his education by completing
his studies in the Doctor of Ministry Degree at the Erskine Theological
Seminary in 1993.

In addition to his service as a pastor, Rev. Strong has served his communities
as an USAF Reserve Chaplain from 1987-1995. Rev. Strong began Community
Food Pantries in Conway and Greenville. He has been a Rotarian and a Lion's
Club member and is a Mason. He served on the Board of Directors of Bethany
Christian Services in Conway. He coached youth football, basketball and
baseball teams in Conway, Greenwood and Greenville. He was a coach for
the South Greenville American Legion Baseball Team in 1999. He has served
as a South Carolina High School Basketball Official since 1984.
Rev. Strong has served the United Methodist Church as a member and Chairperson
of the Committee on Deaconesses and Home Missionaries, a member of the
Board of Directors for The South Carolina United Methodist Advocate,
as a Supervising Pastor and Counseling Elder and as a member of
the Committee on Nominations.
